About Andrea

I have devoted nearly three decades to the field of clinical psychology, navigating the complexities of human emotions and experiences and have a profound commitment to helping you towards living a meaningful and purposeful life that is in alignment to your values.

My therapeutic style is to meet you where you are at with compassion, respect, curiosity and a deep-seated passion for optimizing your psychological well-being. Central to my therapeutic approach is a constellation of my own values: patience, strength, courage, gratitude, and a mindful presence in the here and now. These pillars not only define my interactions with clients but also underpin the holistic framework through which I address psychological suffering.

I will invite you to consider viewing your challenging situations through new lenses, identify positive choices, and challenge limiting beliefs. This process not only facilitates immediate relief but can also work towards helping you to acquire the necessary skills to navigate future challenges independently.

Through psychoanalysis, I delve into the intricate web of coping strategies, striving to offer you not just temporary relief but a deeper understanding of the mechanisms behind your distress. Incorporating a sociopolitical perspective and considering historical factors, my work is a reflection on the belief in the interconnectedness of individual psychology and broader societal contexts. This approach enables me to address daily life challenges with a depth and nuance that transcend traditional therapeutic approaches. The methodology I use seamlessly blends my training years’ influences, the North American and European/South American schools of counselling. This dual approach, characterized by a solution-focused spirit on one hand and a deeper exploration of the root causes of clients' issues on the other, forms the foundation of an effective method. To tailor my work to clients’ unique needs, I also incorporate cognitive-behavioral, narrative, social, and psychodynamic perspectives.
I am bilingual provide psychological services in both English and Spanish.

In my private practice with Aligned Minds, I work with adult individuals, couples and families for virtual therapy. I am an LGBTQIA ally.  My areas of focus include helping you navigate work through depression, anxiety, panic disorders, PTSD, anger management, chronic illness, the psychological impacts of marital separation, divorce and communication challenges, uprooting trauma and acculturation, fear of flying, work stress, burnout, existential crises, fertility issues, LGBTQIA struggles/concerns, and chronic fatigue and pain.
When I am not practicing psychology, I can most often be found being active with Pilates or weight training, cooking for my family, travelling, spending time with my loved ones, and enjoying movies, theatre, and concerts as much as possible
